New Arrival: Curtis!

Meet Curtis! He was from a school hatching project and, as a chick, was due to be used as food for birds of prey. A kind family took him in to prevent him from being killed and they had been caring for him.

Unfortunately due to complaints from neighbours (which is so common with cockerels and makes them so difficult to re-home - we personally love the sounds cockerels make), they had to find a new home for him.

Curtis arrived a few weeks ago and is the friendliest boy. He is now at an in-between stage where parts of him still look like a young chicken, but he is getting his adult cockerel neck feathers and his tail is getting a flick to it. He’s definitely growing up and has started showing an interest in some of the hens, so we’ll have to see what Sunshine thinks of that! Endless chicken drama! Because he was raised in a loving family home, Curtis is so used to people and loves a cuddle so can regularly be found in the arms of a volunteer - there are always people willing to provide hugs here.
